Usually, landlords are responsible for:
The exterior structure of the property Plumbing and water pipework Maintenance and repairs of gas appliances that come with the property and gas pipework Electrical wiring and repairs, as well as maintenance and repairs of electrical appliances that come with the property Boiler repairs and maintenance Central heating repairs and maintenance
Such information will be detailed in your tenancy agreement. A landlord must agree to the maintenance and repair of anything outlined within the agreement, however, they are not responsible for personal appliances, or anything that is not covered by the tenancy agreement.
Landlords also cannot pass on the cost of any repair or maintenance work onto a tenant.
