In many cases it is the responsibility of the landlord to maintain key aspects of their property, including boiler repairs and maintenance, electrical repair, plumbing repair and maintenance, and central heating maintenance where appropriate.

Our Landlords Home Cover Plan can help you to keep on top of your properties whilst keeping costs down. For just £24/month, our plan covers your property in the event of breakdowns and ensures swift repairs to keep your property on top condition, and your tenants happy.

Usually, landlords are responsible for:

The exterior structure of the property Plumbing and water pipework Maintenance and repairs of gas appliances that come with the property and gas pipework Electrical wiring and repairs, as well as maintenance and repairs of electrical appliances that come with the property Boiler repairs and maintenance Central heating repairs and maintenance

Such information will be detailed in your tenancy agreement. A landlord must agree to the maintenance and repair of anything outlined within the agreement, however, they are not responsible for personal appliances, or anything that is not covered by the tenancy agreement.

Landlords also cannot pass on the cost of any repair or maintenance work onto a tenant.
